Solve the problem of dewatering the second largest zinc mine in the world Challenge: “HLZ” mine, the second largest zinc mine in the world, has pits with a depth of 300 meters. These pits are flooded during the rainy season, endangering the safety of mine workers and halting operations. Previously, deep well pumps were used for dewatering, which had many disadvantages, including: the need to supply power required by motors that were on the surface, failure of power cables due to the movement of heavy machinery in the mine and voltage drop.
✅ Solution provided by Vermineral team: Installation of three mineral dewatering units including Multiflo @ 210 MW pumps coupled with diesel engine and self-priming vacuum system
The initial unit was installed on the mine floor and the next two units were installed as supports at different levels. Advantages: .Continuous dewatering operations even when the water level is very low due to the use of vacuum self-priming system.
🔹 No need to supply power from the surface due to the use of diesel engines.
🔹 Possibility of transferring dewatering units to any point of the mine Result: Seven years of non-stop dewatering operations
